Answer to Question #127036 in Inorganic Chemistry for Qaqamba

Question #127036
1.Show using calculations if a CaF2 precipitate will form when 25 ml of 0.02M, NaF is mixed with 10ml of 0.01M Ca(NO3)2? Ksp CaF2=3.9×10^-11

2.Write balanced equation including phase labels for the following;
a) Lead metal is produced by heating solid lead sulphide with solid lead sulphate, resulting in liquid lead and sulphur dioxide gas.

b) Lime, CaO, is converted to slaked lime , CA(OH)2 by reaction with water.

c) Aluminium metal is produced from aluminium oxide by an alectrolytic process. Oxygen is also a product.

2NaF + Ca(NO3)2 = CaF2 + 2NaNO3

25 x 0.02/1000 = 0,0005

10 x 0.01 / 1000 = 0,0001

0.0001 x 78/2 = 0,0039.

2.

a) CaCO3 = CaO + CO2.

b) CaO + H2O = Ca(OH)2

c) Al2O3 = 2Al + 3/2 O2
