Why do so many metals adopt the same structure type, while there is a much larger variety for ionic compounds and even more for molecular crystal structures?

Metal have generally metallic ion and loss electron in the crystal metallic ion have positive charge and electron have negative charge charge density over electron for all metal approx same and also charge density over metallic ion also approx same so approx similar type of attractive force acted over metallic ion and electron for most of the metal.
