Three liquids,dilute acid solution,alkaline solution and distilled water were kept in an unlabelled identical ragent bottle. Describe briefly a test that could be performed to identify each of the liquid.

There are two simple tests. The first is an identification of pH solution by using indicator paper. In acid solution it becomes red, in alkaline solution – deep blue and in distilled water – no change is happening.
The second is instrumental method by using pH-meter. In the acidic solution – pH is less than 7, in distilled water – 7 and in alkaline solution – more than 7.
