Each water molecule must have four hydrogen bonds. Two hydrogen bonds accept the lone pair from oxygen and the other by donation of two hydrogen atoms. Two hydrogen atoms combine with oxygen of their hydrogen and an extra pair of hydrogen atoms from their mediate neighbor water molecules for water molecules. The resulting arrangement is a tetrahedral structure.
