HBr: Hydrogen bromide is a diatomic molecule containing covalently bonded hydrogen and bromine atoms. Hydrobromic acid is a solution of HBr ( in this case hydrogen bromide) in water. In aqueous solution the HBr dissociates to produce H+ and Br- ions in solution.

This is shown in the equation:

HBr(aq) → H+(aq) + Br- (aq)
