During a copper (II) sulphate hydrate lab, students are instructed to heat the hydrate until ONLY the anhydrous copper (II) sulphate remained. If a group did NOT apply sufficient heating, HOW would the % mass of H2O be affected? Will it be higher or lower than the actual %? Why?

There will be a slight reduction in the percentage of water.

It will be higher since the 5 molecules of water of crystallization of hydrated copper (ii) Sulphate won't be lost completely to become anhydrous.
