Answer to Question #173832 in General Chemistry for John

Question #173832

4. Calculate the enthalpy change for one mole of zinc and CuSO4(aq),

and write a thermochemical equation for the reaction.

5. Compare your result with the accepted value of -217 kJ mol-1 by

calculating the percentage error in your answer.

Zn + CuSO4 = ZnSO4 + Cu

Enthalphy change of the reaction = -218.67KJ/mol

%error = -217/-218.67 × 100%= 77.89%

It could be as a result of heat lost or gained and also the calorimeter
