Answer to Question #169224 in General Chemistry for J

Question #169224

An empty steel container is filled with 3.00 atm of H₂ and 3.00 atm of F₂. The system is allowed to reach equilibrium. If Kp = 0.450 for the reaction below, what is the equilibrium partial pressure of HF?

[H2]=[F2]

Kp= [HF]2/([H2]-1/2[HF])2;

[HF]=x;

X=0.671*3 - 0.671*0.5*x;

1.335x= 2.013

X=1.5

Answer: partial pressure for HF is 1.5 atm.
