reactants. Which of the two processes will your team use and why?

1) FeS(s) + HCl(aq) = FeCl 2 (aq) + H 2 S(g)

2) H 2 O(l) + Al 2 S 3 (s) = H 2 S(g) + Al(OH) 3 (s)

Expert's answer

It will be preferable for my team to use process 2.

The reason is that water, which is easily available at low cost is a reactant in the second process.
