For one mole of methane

∆H= Hp - HR

∆H= [-398.8+2(-241.6)] - [-76.2]

∆H= -369.8KJ/mol

Volume of methane=1m³= 1000dm³

Since 1mol of methane at STP occupies 22.4dm³

22.4dm³ of methane yields -369.8KJ

1000dm³ of methane will yield

-369.8 x 1000/22.4 = -16509KJ
