Both, ammonium and sodium, chlorides will precipitate silver cations in the form of AgCl:

NH4Cl + AgClO3 "\\rightarrow" AgCl"\\downarrow" + NH4ClO3;

NaCl + AgClO3 "\\rightarrow" AgCl"\\downarrow" + NaClO3.

However, in the excess of chlorides the AgCl precipitate will be dissolved:

AgCl + Cl- "\\rightarrow" [AgCl2]-.
