Describe the role of each of the following in the process of protein synthesis
iv) Ribosome
Ribosomes are non-membranous organelles composed of specific proteins and ribosomal RNA. These organelles organize all components required for the protein synthesis - mRNA, tRNA-AA, and translation factors. Ribosomes determine the initial codon and start of the translation on the mRNA molecule. Next, ribosomes provide the correct reading of the mRNA codons by controlling the interaction between tRNA and mRNA. Finally, ribosomes provide the formation of the peptide bond between amino acids resulting in the formation of the functional proteins.
