The hypothalamus is located below the thalamus, near the pituitary gland.  It forms the ventral part of the diencephalon. The hypothalamus controls the regulation of various metabolic processes and other activities of the autonomic nervous system. The hypothalamus regulates body temperature, hunger, thirst, parenting (release of oxytocin), fatigue, blood pressure, water balance, sleep, and circadian rhythms. The hippocampus is a part of the limbic system. It is located under the cerebral cortex in the medial temporal lobe. The hippocampus controls the consolidation of information from short-term memory to long-term memory, as well as spatial memory.

So, the answer provided is correct.
