Indicator phenolphthalein was added to the flask with acid. The solution was transparent, as phenolphthalein is colorless under the acidic conditions. Then, sodium hydroxide, which is a strong base, was added by drops and the solution was mixed. When the solution changed color to pink, titration was stopped. The volume of used sodium hydroxide was recorded.
