The difference between serotypes based on the difference of surface proteins - E protein.
Recombinant domains of the E protein are used as antigens in the serological detection of
antibodies and as immunogenes in serum. E domain of Dengue virus 1 interacts with murine
antibody E111 and form the complex with its Fab and scFv fragments. E domain of Dengue
virus 1, 2, 3 interact with murine antibody 1A1D-2 and form the complex with its Fab
fragment.. The murine antibody 2H12 interacts with Dengue virus 1, 2, 4 by Fab fragment.
The murine antibody 4E11 neutralizes all four DENV serotypes by scFv fragment. The
chimpanzee antibody 5H2 neutralizes Dengue virus 4 by crystallization in complex. Also all
four serotypes interacts with Fab or scFv fragments of the human antibodies Ede1-C10,
Ede2-A11 and Ede2-B7. They interacts with E protein.
