Calvin cycle is biochemical pathway that includes three light-independent reactions of photosynthesis to convert carbon dioxide and other compounds into glucose. The whole name of this path is Calvin-Benson-Bassham cycle or C3 cycle. It takes place in the stroma of chloroplasts. Both Melvin Calvin and Andy Benson identified the key compunds and stages of this process using a radioactive isorope of carbon.
So, the Calvin-Benson cycle explains how plants split carbon from the carbon dioxide through the sequential reactions to make sugar during photosynthesis (independently from sunlight).
