Answer to Question #51519 in Other Biology for Sumit
Which of the antigens listed below likely to be the most immunogenic when injected into a rabbit and explain why? i) Mouse Collagen ii) Human Collagen iii) Rabbit Collagen iv) A bacterial Toxin
I would suggest that human collagen will induce the most immune response.Human is considered to be the most sensitive to a bacterial toxin. Bacterial toxin nature could be lipopolysaccharides or protein. Immunogenecity (in this case of rabbit) is the highest for proteins. Moreover, immunogenecity is driven by T cell response and influenced by phylogenetic distance and protein structure (the more complex the more is reaction). Therefore, collagen of phylogeneticly distant human will be the most immunogenic after injection into a rabbit.
