Shape of viruses are classified into filaments, isometric enveloped and head and tail . The filamentous shape is determined by the presence of form of threads or filaments while isometric shape is determined by the presence of body being divided into three equal parts.

enveloped shape is determined by the presence of an enclosing structure such as membrane while head and tail is the presence of the two parts which is head and tail.
