We know that there are total 10000 named species of bacteria. It was also estimated that about 10000 to 100000 bacteria also found between one identified one. As per the research it is estimated that 1cm2 of our gum area has millions of bacteria. It is also estimated that 10 % of our total body weight is of bacteria. So,it is very important to isolate those bacteria which may cause disease so that we can identify them and stop their growth.

The two methods through which they can be isolated are following

  1. Streaking for isolation on an agar plate
  2. The pour plate method
