Answer to Question #125786 in Microbiology for billy

Question #125786
Mavis decided to try out a new biological washing powder. The instructions indicated that the clothes with food stains should be soaked at 40 oC for several hours. She thought then that soaking at 70 oC should be even better and remove the stain in a faster time.

a. State your hypothesis and design an experiment to prove your hypothesis
Expert's answer

Hypothesis: Stain removal involves the process of dissolving a stain in a solvent, especially water. Warm or hot water is usually the best in faster removal of stains, and this is because the solvent molecules move faster in heat, thereby dissolving the molecules faster as compared to lower temperatures.
