Sweat glands secrete sweat when the body temperature is too hot/body temperature too high. The sweat will transfer the heat away as it evaporates. When it's cold/body temperature too low, blood vessels constrict, sweat will stop when body temperature is normal, and shivering will produce heat to warm the body.
