A lipid layer in cell membrane consists of hydrophilic head and hydrophobic tail.In a bilipid layer the hydrophobic tails are hidden inside and hydrophilic heads are exposed to water on either sides for the movement of water. The proteins are arranged on the surface as well as inserted in the bilipid layer. The surface proteins are called Extrinsic proteins and the proteins inserted are called Intrinsic proteins.
