Answer to Question #161047 in Cell Biology for Virat

Question #161047

10. Round cell of the connective tissue possessing special function. The central part of the cell contains one bid drop of neutral fat that presses the nucleus of the cell to the periphery, the cytoplasm of the cell contains poorly developed organelles

Expert's answer

Adipose cell, also called adipocyte or fat cell, connective-tissue cell specialized to synthesize and contain large globules of fat. There are two types of adipose cells: white adipose cells contain large fat droplets, only a small amount of cytoplasm, and flattened, noncentrally located nuclei; and brown adipose cells contain fat droplets of differing size, a large amount of cytoplasm, numerous mitochondria, and round, centrally located nuclei. The colour of brown adipose is attributed to its relatively high density of mitochondria and its extensive vascular supply.
