The statement is false. The telophase stage is the final phase of cell division. During this stage, cytokinesis occurs whereby the cells are split into daughter cells. On the flip side, DNA is duplicated in the S phase stage of interphase. During the S phase, which comes after the G_1 phase, all the chromosomes are replicated. Consequently, each chromosome then consists of two sister chromatids. Therefore, the amount of DNA in the cell becomes doubled up in the S phase of interphase.
