It important that the catalase and the hydrogen peroxide be both at optimal temperature before the catalase is added. This is because catalase enzyme reacts very fast with hydrogen peroxide at optimal temperature thus any temperature lower or higher than the optimal temperature will lower the reaction time providing slower results.


There was no oxygen when the reaction was repeated with different enzymes because unlike catalase enzyme which contains contains four iron-containing heme groups that allow the enzyme to neutralize the hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen, other enzymes does not contain the same
