The cell cycle is the series of events that take place in a cell leading to duplication of its DNA and division of cytoplasm and organelles to produce two daughter cells. It is divided into following stages- G1 phase, S phase (synthesis), G2 phase and M phase (mitosis and cytokinesis).

Timings of cell cycle-

S phase 6-8 hours

G2 phase - 3-4 hours

M phase- 1 hours
