(b) What is meristem? Discuss its role in plants.
Expert's answer

a) Connective tissue is one of the four basic types of animal tissue. Fluid connective tissue is a sub-type of tissues and include blood and lymph. This kind of tissues has cell components and ground substance. Ground substance with body water is an amorphous gel-like substance in the extracellular space that contains all components of the extracellular matrix.. Ground substance is primarily composed of water and large organic molecules, such as glycosaminoglycans (GAGs), proteoglycans, and glycoproteins. Cells are red and white kinds.

b)A meristem is the tissue in most plants containing undifferentiated cells (meristematic cells), found in zones of the plant where growth can take place. Meristematic cells give rise to various organs of a plant and are responsible for growth. Meristematic cells can divide very friquently and mass grow really fast.
