Salivation is a reflex process that occurs due to irritation of receptors in the oral cavity (especially the taste buds of the tongue). Salivation unconditioned reflex and conditioned reflex (appearance, thought and smell of food) is regulated by nerve center located in the cerebral cortex. Thought about of food this is unconditioned stimulus. Your body is reacting to the thought of having food in its mouth, and is preparing to break the food down with enzymes.
