Human and duck insulins have the same amino acid sequence with the exception of six amino acid residues. Therefore, the PI level of human has higher PI level than that of duck because the molecules of the two insulins will interact differently with the receptors. The duck insulin amino acid changes all involve neutral amino acids and hence a lower PI compared to that of human.
