A subculture is just a smaller cultural group within a larger culture; people of a subculture are part of the larger culture but also share a specific identity within a smaller group. Thousands of subcultures exist within my generation today. Examples of subcultures include the hippies, hipsters, cosplay, hip hop, punks, emos, and goths.

Many of the issues of our generation are expressed through media, and our generation has definitely made its mark on society's collective culture through its digital footprint as well.
