3 3.1 The conflict theory. Conflict theory argues that the tenacity of education as upholding social disparity and conserving the influence of those who dictate society. Conflict philosophers do not consider that public schools decrease social disparity. Fairly, they consider that the educational system strengthens and preserves social disparities, which from dissimilarities in race, class, ethnicity, and gender. 3.2 The key dissimilarity between functionalism and conflict concept is that the functionalism argues that every facet of a society serves a purpose and are essential for the existence of that society while the conflict theory argues that a community is in continuous class conflict because of the constraint and the unequal nature of resources.
