Description

Societal disputes are also identified as social conflicts, which develop because of a struggle for authority or support in a given community. The disputes always arise because of a conflicting view or power between or among the players in social interaction. The purpose for such a contradictory view or influence is to inhibit one entity or the other from achieving its objectives.

Case 1: Concerned Teachers Union (CTU) took the government to court for non-payment of Teachers allowances.

The union social representation of teachers since they serve the community and the government serves the community. As a result, the defaulting of teachers' allowances inhibits them from attaining the support or authority as teachers within the district. At the same time, the government will profit from unpaid allowances. The circumstance is an instance of a societal dispute.

Case 2: Okyeame took Akua-Nimo to court for non- payment of rent.

Okyeame and Akua-Nimo are persons whose actions of overwhelming one another will not impact the community in any way. They agree where each will profit on his or her without influencing the community to know who is influential than the other by winning the case. Hence, the issue is not a social dispute.

Case 3: GRA took Melcom to court for non-payment of taxes.

GRA and Melcom comprehend the value that will delight Melcom if avoidance in payment of taxes occurs. Similarly, the default of taxes by Melcom will lead to the suffering of the general public since GRA will not have sufficient resources for dissemination or provision. The influence of the GRA case of taking Melcom to a court of law is to stop Melcom from defaulting the constitutional duty of paying taxes, and GRA will benefit by amassing more tax returns. The case is a communal dispute.
