Expert's answer

The four major sociological theoretical paradigms are symbolic interaction, functionalism, conflict theory, and postmodernism. Functionalism is a macro-level theory that focuses on each part of society's functioning and how it contributes to the whole society .example of a part of society is the legal system that helps to maintain law and order in the community.

In contrast, Conflict theory is a macro-level theory that emphasizes how social inequalities contribute to social differences and perpetuate disparities in power. For instance, unbalanced power between workers and business owners. At the same time, Symbolic interactionism is a micro-level assumption and focuses on direct human interaction and communications. An example of symbolic interactionism is when people isolate themselves from others because they have been referred to as ugly.

Moreover, a postmodernism theory helps to analyze the social and cultural features of late capitalism. For example, pulp fiction shows how the story is told out of the ordinary, upending our film pattern's expectations.

Functional perspective would best explain my decision to return to college by applying the manifest function. Therefore my anticipated effects on returning to school would be gaining knowledge and skill to fit into my dream career. Furthermore, conflict theory helps explain how competition for limited resources may influence the adult's choice for returning to school to become powerful and get hold of a high position in the job market.

The benefits and flow of conflict theory include eye to new ideas- when a person here about others' perceptions, it helps them mold and clarify their own.

2. It opens the opportunity to verbalize needs

3. Teaches flexibility - to fit in the society, conflict theory argues that people need to adjust to others and their perspective to adjust for us with our perspectives.

4. It teaches people patterns of behavior - as people engage in conflict, they learn how others perform their duties, priorities, and style of communication.

5. Practise emotional control.- perseverance and self-control are keys to successful conflict resolution.
