1.A description of the technology; the year;

Technology is critical, and many items resulted from the inventions and innovative ideas of people over time. There are associated benefits and challenges that technological advancement impacts societies across the globe. Among the technologies developed, smartphones have formed the most recommendable invention that continues to impact people's lives since its introduction dates back to 1995. However, smartphones became popular and widely used in Americans, for example, the iPhone, which became affordable to most Americans in the 2000s. I first got an opportunity to hold an iPhone that my parents bought in 2008, but I could not access its features. The first phone that I acquired from my resources was an iPhone 4, which cost me $499.

2. Your memory/ understanding of the technology; and

When my parents first acquired the iPhone, the father restricted me from using the phones, and I had little information on operating it. However, with continued access and interactions with smartphones, joint slowly got the opportunities to interact with technology from friends of friends or other people from close social institutions like extended families. Memory records that I first knew how to switch on an iPhone, which my mother hinted me. However, schooling exposed us to technology, and we were fortunate to have courses that taught us about emerging technologies. Our teachers who had smartphones could induct as on the features and functions of the smartphones and iPhone. However, other practices occur by accessing the phones of senior people who were compatible with our motives to embrace technology. When I bought my first phone, I got the opportunity to learn more about it through the manufacture’s manual. Many information on the phone features is available on the internet to help us understand the gadget.

3. Why this has caused change in life

Smartphones and iPhone have changed in that most of the activities done by other machines and people are executed by the phones. For example, capturing moments by use of traditional cameras was abandoned by most youths, for the phones were fitted with cameras to perform the same task. Learning items and materials have been digitally modified and can be accessed by digital phones, thus reducing the number of times I could visit physical libraries. I am glad that the technology-enhanced the social attachments whereby people could interact through phones without associating with other physicians. The iPhone features, such as video calls, make conversions realistic, and personal appeal, are archived. Continued advancement is on course, and the world has turned into a global village. Digital phones today are used to conduct transactions online, whereby money transfer services have been made more efficient between people from different states.

4.Important: you should also consider the following: In your opinion, are there (or could there be) any negative repercussions to the invention or adoption of this particular technology? Explain

However, technology has side effects that have negatively impacted the social structure of the current generation. Repercussions associated with the development of the iPhone were not well taken care of, and indeed, society is suffering from technological advancement either socially or economically. Family companionship and togetherness have lost meaning or have been reduced to other virtual means of contacting each other through phones. The pleasure and a feeling that we used to have when our parents visited as physically was eliminated by other means contacted through phones. Money for upkeep was sent through the phone, and I would barely see my parents visiting me during the term claiming that they meet me over the phone. Phones have managed to occupy the lives of most people where people spend most of the time with their phones, either attending to other people on social media or conducting other business, neglecting the time that should be allocated for family wellness.

5.In Unit 2, Activity 1 you were introduced to a number of social science theories/ paradigms. Utilizing this information (repeated below) briefly explain how the addition of this technology could be seen/ interpreted/ analyzed/ explained etc. through one of those lenses

Social sciences theories or paradigms were developed to help understand how human beings interact with their environment: society, community, family, or any other social group. Social approaches have been developed, and some focus on how technology and human beings affect each other. The structural theory explains structures to be resources that are raised for a particular social system. The theory describes the concept whereby human actions are constrained and controlled by networks that result from the same steps. The thesis describes technology as a structure that influences human activities, and some exercises are given rise to as a result of human interaction and technology.
