Political socialization refers to when an individual continuously learns and frequently internalizes insights on how power is arranged and how the political environment around them is organized. This internalization is seen as the introduction of new thoughts that technically define who an individual is as well as their behaviors in the economic and political systems they live in. In other words, political socialization is a process that entails the acquisition of values and opinions that explicitly define one’s ideologies and stances in politics, after understanding the behaviors and learning about the attitudes in it. Ideally, this process only involves the transfer of information on political behaviors and norms that are accepted by society and that are deemed to allow for a functional political system.
