Cognitive impairment refers to a decline in memory, concentration, learning speed, proper judgement and co-ordination while schizophrenia refers to the inability to feel, think and behave clearly. Studies have indicated that patients suffering from schizophrenia are also experience a cognitive decline. Working memory is essential for memory, learning and other general activities. The working is generally impaired in patients suffering from schizophrenia. Therefore, this suggests that the cognitive impairment contributes to the long-term schizophrenia disorder.
