 Adolescence and Decision Making

The major adjustments and remodeling of the human brain happens during adolescents. During adolescence, the human brain undergoes remodeling in which the unused connections are pruned off while the useful connections are strengthened. The remodeling process begins at amygdala, the back part of the brain towards the prefrontal cortex, the front part of the brain, which is used for thinking, planning, and decision making.  Since the prefrontal cortex is remodeled last at the mid-twenties of an individual, human beings often use amygdala for thinking and decision making during teenage. The amygdala which is used to reason during adolescence is associated with impulses, emotions, aggressiveness, and instinctive behavior this explaining the nature of teenagers decision making and behaviors during adolescence.
