There are several studies that predict the relationship between the candidate-centeredness of electoral systems and voter turnout. Results however show that voter turnout is highest in party-centered systems that have closed and ordered lists. The proportional electoral system and candidate-centered systems are associated with democracy and voters are greatly engaged. Since the two systems enhance representation, voters are given incentives to come out and vote in numbers.
