1] Task environment refers to the external environment of an organization that affects its ability to reach business goals. Any business or consumer with direct involvement with an organization may be part of the task environment. Examples of task environment sectors include competitors, customers, suppliers, and labor supply. Pepsi faces stiff competition from its competitors with Coca-Cola being the leading competitor. The task environment for Pepsi includes; Customer: Coke’s commercials are basically based on young generations. Secondly, the Competitor which is Coca-Cola, suppliers of carbohydrates and sodium among others, stakeholders which include media, employees, and competitors. Other task environments include the government rules and regulations, and pressure groups.

2] Mondelez has an enormous market for its products. For Chinese consumers, the company introduced a wafer cookie in 2006 to allow consumers to become familiar with the Oreo brand. In 2009, the company worked with a consumer panel in China to find out the right mix of bitterness, color, and crunchiness that would appeal to local tastes. They found out that Chinese consumers want a cookie that is not too sweet and smaller. These were demographic features or characteristics of the consumers from China and thus shaped the success of Oreo in China. Demographics is one of the environmental factors that affect product growth and success.
