An intratype competitor is one who is in the same line of business, selling the same goods to the same customers, while an intertype competitor is one who engage in a different type of business, selling similar goods to the same customers.

7-Eleven is a convenience store and therefore any other convenience store selling the same type of goods would be an intratype competitor. For example, Stop-N-Go, is another convenience store that sell the same products to the same customers as 7-Eleven.

On the other hand, a business like Target, a box retailer, sells other convenience products that are overlapping to those sold by 7-Eleven
