Researchers at Havard Business School established that one of the most important managerial behaviours inolves enabling people to move forward in their work and ensuring that people are treated with decency. According to Maslow's hierarchy of needs, people needs are categorised into basic needs, psychological needs and self-actualization needs. It is important that Human Resource managers be aware of these needs. Management has to relize that people need to keep growing in their careers. As such, they need to be given an avenue to progress through occasional promotions and other fit incentives. That way, they are able to keep growing and feel more satsfied with their jobs.

One of the needs that Maslow talks about is the need for self esteem. When people are part of an organization, the human resource management has to realize that they need to be given self esteem in order for them to grow. That can be done through respect, respect of ones status, freedoms and strength. In general that forms the decent package that all individuals desires to receive from their fello colleagues. With that, they are able to work well and progress in their life.
