A strong leader is not necessarily an excellent manager. Leadership comes with the ability to influence others. On the other side, managers ensure that employees conform to standards and adhere to policies. They ensure that their team achieve the goals of their leaders. This explains why managers are more important than leaders in an organization.

In an organization, most of the employees report directly to the managers. The managers oversee the teams and have the most important interaction with the employees. The management is entirely responsible for the productivity of the whole organization. however visionary and talented the leaders are, the management matters more.

In any organization, the leaders will need managers who will communicate the leadership’s visions to the workforce. The managers are the vessels through which the overall strategies and visions of the leaders get to the employees for execution. The managers also supervise and ensure the execution process is done accordingly.

Generally, the leaders are tasked with setting the overall vision and direction for the business whereas managers bring it to life within their particular areas. Therefore, an organization needs both managers and leaders to realize their goals. However, as illustrated the management is more proactive in the realization of these goals.
