Examine your thoughts about Locke’s beliefs that children are born with empty knowledge and a blank slate.  Vygotsky developed the idea of the Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD) which suggest that when working within a child’s ZPD, the teacher or more capable person sets a goal such as the child writing his name with the support from the teacher to achieve the goal.

As evidenced and postulated by the works of the renowned and recognized researcher, Vygotsky, it's important for a tutor or teacher to establish positive thoughts in a learner's mind, especially at a young age. According to the ZPD model built by, a tutor should not focus on the inabilities of a student, but rather focus on the abilities the student can achieve under the guidance of a qualified tutor. According to my understanding, ZPD model is a platform, originating from educational philosophical theories that tutors, teachers and even lecturers should apply in teaching methodologies since they will not use the ideologies due on the inabilities of the students but rather focus on their abilities
