What were the reasons of the failure of the Khilafat movement?
The main reason for the failure if the Khalifat movement was the suppression of the representatives of the movement by the British government. The British government denied having talks with the representatives of the movement and this made them lose credibility. Under the leadership of Gandhi, the Khalifat committee was called off as the British government divided the Ottoman empire according to its interests. The move to call off the committee made many people lose trust and support and they moved to support other movements.
