There is a lack of more information regarding the theories of African indigenous astronomy research. This shows that a lot of this knowledge has been left undocumented since Africa has over one thousand ethnic groups. The theories of African indigenous astronomy research form a part of the indigenous people and are part of their way of life. One theory of African indigenous astronomy research is the Girls of the Night theory. In this case, it is believed that there are six primary stars referred to as sisters; thus, the Tuareg mainly uses this theory. The Igbo people also have the theory that spirits inhabit the underground or below the earth, humans live on the ground, and supernatural beings inhabit the sky. Another theory refers to the eclipse as a harbinger that is found at the end of the world. As a result, the Igbo would beat drums for the eclipse's duration as they pleaded with God to spare the world.
