Ways of Accessing Improved Water Sources

           Implementation of rain water harvesting systems within communities. Such improved water harvesting systems can be created through building of wells for collection and harvesting of rainwater.  Boreholes can also be drilled in the communities where there is water scarcity to improve access to water. Secondly, the problem of water shortage in the villages can also be addressed through development of the water treatment systems through the use of solar disinfection and filters to improve safety of drinking water.  Thirdly, the problem can be addressed by developing low cost solutions like plastic bottles and chlorine tablets that cheaply improves the quality of water through exposure to sunlight.  Lastly, promotion of good hygiene habit among people such as hand washing, etc. helps to reduce health related problems that are brought about by inadequate water supply.
