Why the previous presidents commonly proposed agrarian reform, and why these reforms amended every time the new administration holds office?
Agrarian Reform
Agrarian reform refers to the process of land redistribution to the landless regular farm workers and farmers regardless of the fruits or crops produced in the lands. The programs is mainly aimed at improving the economic status of the poor landless famers by reducing poverty to some extent. The previous presidents agreed to the agrarian reforms mainly due to the economic benefits that it would come along with. First, the land redistribution which was the major concept of agrarian reform would raise agricultural activities in among both the Spaniards and the Philippines, hence the presidents bought into the idea. Secondly, the previous presidents preferred the agrarian reform because it would strengthen food security and reduce poverty level among the rural households. Being that the program entailed free land distribution to landless people, it would promote agriculture which was the main economic activity thus enhancing food security in the region. The agrarian reform was therefore generally good and deserved implementation.
