The spread of Islam in African nations was passing on a religious and adopting the spiritual concepts and a comprehensive way of life, touching all the fields of human existence. Islam also guides all aspects of life, including individuals and groups, economic and political, material and moral, legal and cultural, national and international. Historically, Islam's main impact, particularly in West Africa, was traded, which significantly improved the wealth of African civilization and enabled the formation of many great African kingdoms.

As Islam converted the new regions into Islamic civilization, the contemporary religion provided traders with a safe trade environment. However, the use of Islamic law called  sharia guaranteed a certain measure of equality in the application of criminal justice. Hence, the sharia law protected commerce and imposed harsh punishment for theft and dishonesty

sty. Therefore, the risky of trade and travel was safeguarded unlike it was before the coming of Islam.
