The beliefs of Socrates were nonconformist. Socrates often referred to God rather than the gods and was guided by an inner divine voice. He believed that virtue could be known though he did not confess to know. That any individual who knows what really integrity is could naturally act virtuously. Those working to the contrary did so because they are ignorant of virtue's fundamental nature. They sincerely believe that wisdom was parallel to one's ignorance. They thought that any person should focus on individual development rather than focusing on material possession. Aristotle and Plato make the thoughts of Socrates known through their works. Socrates's main contribution was the technique that one uses to argue a point that was referred to as the Socratic technique that applied to truth and justice. His way of administering questions was unique with hidden ideas.

Socrates' philosophy has been influential in the development of Western philosophy and education. He represented teaching excellence. He was a godless charlatan using his devious intelligence to defraud unsuspecting citizens. Socrates never put into writing any of his ideas but engages his students in conversations on ethics, the conduct of life, and moral truth. He emphasizes the use of dialogue in dealing with any situation that came his way.

Most of his life, as stipulated by the Cambridge dictionary of philosophy, was adversarial public conversation. He spends most of his time in public, in market places, and at parties to engage citizens. In this sort of knowledge, he applied the question-answer technique to learn new ideas. The Socratic Method used by Socrates forms the basis of the earliest education strategy. He served as a midwife to the truth as he could not accept any payment for his service. Socrates embodied his beliefs by influencing knowledge of the western education system.
