The 37th President of the United States had the best policies on the home ground for he campaigned and made bills passed into laws to help fight for American citizens' civil rights. However, his legacy was later thwarted by the devastating war of the Vietnam War. Military advancement into Vietnam had adverse effects, resulting in millions of Vietnamese deaths, and the majority lost their livelihood and homes. More than 58,000 American military personnel lost their lives, and more than hundreds of thousands of soldiers had their lives completely altered. Moreover, the Viet Cong managed to kill eight US and wounded many other people during the attack at Pleiku Air Base. Vietnamese raised questions about how Johnson's leadership should use its clout abroad and these are among the things that made his legacy uncertain and ironic from what he was doing on the American soil.
